Meet Rebeca Figueroa

Rebeca Figueroa joined the YES program in January 2019, after spending the past six years working in higher education. While working towards her PhD in Native American Studies at the University of California, Davis, she worked in various professional positions as an avid advocate for student holistic development. Rebeca’s passion is to help scholars not only achieve their educational, personal, and career goals, but to thrive and enjoy the process of achieving them. Originally from Lennox, CA--the birthplace of the YES Scholars program--she brings her personal experiences in the K-12 educational system, as well as her skills and professional training, into her new role. Rebeca is grateful and excited for the opportunity to be a part of the YES scholars’ journey through high school, college, career, and beyond.
Rebeca Figueroa se unió al programa YES en enero del 2019, después de seis años de trabajo en la Universidad de California, Davis (UC Davis). Mientras estudiaba para su doctorado en Estudios Indígenas en UC Davis, ella trabajó en varios puestos profesionales como defensora y promotora del desarrollo integral de los estudiantes. Rebeca enfoca sus esfuerzos en ayudar a estudiantes no solo alcanzar sus metas educativas, personales, y profesionales, sino también a prosperar y disfrutar el proceso para alcanzar sus metas. Aunque Rebeca creció en la ciudad de Lennox, California, ella considera Aguascalientes su lugar de origen, ya que ambos de sus padres descienden de ese estado mexicano. Rebeca está tan agradecida y emocionada por la oportunidad de formar parte del equipo que apoya a los estudiantes de YES en sus caminos hacia la universidad y sus carreras.
