Meet Lorena Calvillo

Lorena was born and raised in the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina, where she graduated from Appalachian State University with a double degree: a Bachelor's of Science in Anthropology and Political Science. While at App State, Lorena became a lifelong member of Chi Upsilon Sigma National Latin Sorority, Inc. Since then, she has served as the sorority’s Southeast Regional Administrative Officer, helping maintain standards across the region. Lorena has also served as an AmeriCorps member through AdviseNC as a Next Step Advisor. As an advisor, Lorena found her passion for college access, working to empower students and families to reach their dreams of higher education. Now, Lorena hopes to give back to her community by empowering scholars to become authentic leaders.
